When J.J. performs it’s a demonstration of years of hard work and attention to detail. He plays fast and clean, as a musician that knows the ins and outs of his instrument and material. Lisa “Not That Kind of Doctor” Nielson is an easy going intellectual that can be found gigging as a kick ass bassist as part of The Desiatos. In this performance, drummer Don Shumaker stepped in to keep the beat with an intuitive performance.
For this video, the Reverend Double J and his band performed a collection of originals and favorites for the crowd at Water Street Tavern in Kent, Ohio.
J.J. and I have gone through the two hour set and selected some performances to share.
The selected tracks, in order:
- “Shake Your Moneymaker” by Elmore James
- “Take Me Down to Memphis” by J.J. Vicars
- “Long Way from Home” by J.J. Vicars
- “Wang Dang Doodle” by Willie Dixon, arranged by J.J. Vicars
- “Last Train Home” by J.J. Vicars
- “Rumble” by Link Wray
This twenty minute video is a great diversion full of rockin’ electric goodness.
